Welcome

Notice of Extended Leave

I will be on leave until July 2025. If you are interested in therapy and would like to be notified when appointments become available, please add yourself to the waitlist.

For those in need of more immediate support, I recommend seeking alternative therapy options in the meantime. I appreciate your understanding and look forward to serving you upon my return.

Asma Nsiri (she/her)
M.Ed., Registered Psychotherapist

If you're reading this, I'm glad you're here.

WHO AM I

I'm Asma (uhss-ma). Professionally, I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I am proudly a double alumna of the University of Toronto, holding a master's degree in Counselling Psychology.

Personally, I am a North African immigrant settler on Turtle Island, presently situated on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation – a presence reaching back to time immemorial.

My identity as an immigrant has shaped my perspective on the world and continues to ignite my dedication to social justice and the healing of racialized & minority communities.
My lived and professional experiences are valuable tools that enable me to support individuals, businesses, and institutions in creative and unconventional ways. My focus lies in challenging disconnected systems, promoting radical wellness, and fostering sustainable pathways to wholeness.

I have particular experience working alongside adult clients who have experienced childhood and adult trauma in both individual and group capacity within clinical outpatient and research settings such as the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Women’s College Hospital, the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture, and Naseeha youth helpline. I also work extensively with the students, undergraduate and graduate, and have intimate knowledge of the challenges faced by this population.

My expertise spans a diverse range of concerns, including but not limited to trauma, relationship and intergenerational struggles, spirituality and culture, identity complexities, self esteem/self confidence, anxiety, and stress/burnout-related issues.

From my education to my career, I've consistently held the belief that as long as we coexist within oppressive systems and societies, our connections with both ourselves and the world will remain fragmented. Through it all, my objective has consistently revolved around supporting individuals in their journey toward rediscovering wholeness - a true homecoming.

HOW WE'LL WORK TOGETHER

Working with me looks like a blend of delight, laughter, growth, teamwork, and sharing the weight of life's challenges.

Our work together will be but one piece although an important one of the puzzle of your wellbeing.

I step into the role of a companion, healer, supportive friend, confidante to help you rediscover safety in human connections. Over time, you'll come to embody this feeling of safety on your own and recognize your own capability, even in my absence.  This is exactly the aspiration; to walk alongside you in your journey of homecoming, as you reconnect with your inner guide.

I incorporate an intersectional lens in my practice to explore how broader systems such as society, culture, and family shape our individual experiences and our relationship with the self.

For the jargon nerds, my therapeutic approach is collaborative, non-judgemental, anti oppressive, and trauma-informed. It centers the therapeutic relationship as a safety anchor for you to reconnect with your inner wisdom and self while I draw from different modalities that match your needs and goals such as Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Liberation Psychology, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Interpersonal Therapy.

Upon request, I can provide faith-based therapy for clients who identify as Muslim and can provide services in English, Arabic and French (English comprehension required).

You are welcome to share any accessibility needs and/or your preferred pronouns when emailing me.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

How many sessions do I need?

The answer is highly personal and dependent on your goals and needs. And while I cannot provide a direct answer to this, I can offer a gentle reminders. It's important to remember that many of the challenges that led you to seek therapy are connected to past experiences and potentially traumas that you may not have fully addressed or had the chance to work through. As a result, it takes time to cultivate a sense of safety within your body, mind, and soul that enables you to genuinely confront your pain with the intention of restoring balance within your inner world.

However, it's worth noting that your motivation for seeking this healing and supportive environment could evolve as you grow and change. Should that happen, we can always explore how you envision this therapeutic relationship transforming to meet your evolving needs. Please remember that our collaboration is entirely voluntary, and as someone dedicated to your support, I will consistently provide you with sincere feedback along the way.

What if I start therapy and find we are not a good fit?

Good news: that is not uncommon, nor is it a problem! Being able to identify that is actually a positive thing. I strongly welcome you to voice your thoughts if you find that this is the case for you. The next steps would entail us discussing your concerns and supporting you in the next steps.

What are your session fees?

Students fee: 150 CAD
Regular fee: 175 CAD

How can I pay?

Credit card payments, including Visa debit, are accepted through the online client portal. It conveniently handles credit card transactions for appointment bookings. If you have a preferred payment method not listed, please contact me, and I will do my best to accommodate.

Do you accept insurance?

While psychotherapy is a regulated health profession in Ontario, unfortunately it is not covered under OHIP, OW or ODSP.

The majority of extended health benefits, however, do cover psychotherapy (typically in your health and dental insurance package from your employer). I strongly encourage you to speak with your insurance provider beforehand about counselling services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist to determine your eligibility and approved rates of coverage.

Currently, direct billing isn't available. Nevertheless, I can provide a comprehensive receipt for you to submit to your insurer for potential reimbursement, provided you possess applicable benefits.

Do I need a referral to see a therapist?

Not at all! You do not need a referral to book an appointment.

However, if you're considering using your insurance coverage, I recommend verifying with your insurance provider whether they necessitate a referral for reimbursement purposes.

Do you take clients from outside Ontario?

The answer varies based on your location and needs. Please complete the inquiry form, and I will be in touch with you.
